ATATÜRK’S CHILDHOOD -2-
Mustafa’s sister, Makbule, was ill so that she stayed at home that day. For this reason Mustafa was going to take care of the broad bean field alone. It was not so difficult to run after crow. When he first started going to broad bean field to chase after them, the crows understood how clever he was and how difficult it was to overcome with the technique he used. They did their best but could not succeed in getting rid of him so they had to fly away. When Mustafa arrived in the field he took a chair out of the hut which was just in the middle of the field and he sat down on it. After about half an hour he started to get bored because he didn’t like sitting around doing nothing. He always wanted to keep busy and to help other people. He was useful for his uncle by taking care of the broad bean field but this was not enough for him. What else should he do? There were some books in the hut. He always thought that the best friends were books. You read them and you learn more and more things and improve your knowledge. He started reading one of the books. This was much better and he was not bored anymore.
After two hours Mustafa realized that an old man was coming towards him thorough the path in fields. There was a lamb with him. He sat down under a tree which was near the field. When Mustafa saw him sitting, he stood up, took his book back into the hut and left it there and went beside the old man. ‘Hello, sir. Where are you going? , he said to the old man.
‘I am going to the town to visit my son’, he replied and continued ‘I am taking this lamb as a present for my grandson. Last week they came to the village and stayed for a week and my grandson wanted me to give him a lamb as a present but I couldn’t because that time the lambs were too little and I promised to give him one when they grow up. Now I want him to grow up this lamb. The most important thing is love in the world. A person who is lack of love looks like a dying tree that means he doesn’t know what the love of nature or human means and he doesn’t know the value of love. A lot of nationalities became enemies and as a result humanity suffered from this hatred. We must show love to people and teach other people how to love. Because love is a great feeling and it makes people very happy and lively. We should love everything and be loved by everybody’, said the old man.
While he was talking, Mustafa was sitting down and listening to him very carefully. Now, it was his turn to talk.
‘Dear Sir, I get difficulty to understand why some people don’t love their countries. I love my country very much and I am proud of being a member of it. How can people who do not love their countries learn to love it? And how can I improve my love for my country? What would you advice me?’ he said.
The enthusiasm of Mustafa surprised the old man because he was only 10 years old but he was really well informed, cultured and intelligent, but he was not satisfied with it, so he wanted to improve himself much more and he could ask questions bravely. How many of the children at his age would care about the love of homeland.
The old man smiled and said ‘My son you haven’t told me what your name is’. Mustafa replied, ‘My name is Mustafa’. The old man suggested him reading the biography of Namık KEMAL who was a poet and never hesitated to shout out that his love for his country facing lots of prevention. He suffered a lot but he never gave up serving his country’.
Mustafa promised to read his poems much more carefully and asked the old man what happiness was according to him. ‘Happiness is very different for everyone’, said the old man and started talking about it.
‘Happiness is a reality and there is happiness in life and everybody has different forms of it. It is up to you whether to be happy without making others unhappy or not. You do not need money or big things to be happy. If you want, you can be happy when you see a butterfly flying or a flower blooming or people shaking hands. Anyway Mustafa I have to go because I have to be in the town before it gets dark. I will be very happy if I was able to teach you anything about love and happiness. Have a nice day’, he said.
Mustafa said that he was so pleased to talk to him and it was really a useful conversation for him. After the old man left, Mustafa turned back to the hut and started thinking about what they had talked with the old man.

KELOĞLAN AND NASREDDİN HODJA
Keloğlan had gone to the town to sell chickens. When he arrived at the market, he started to look for a customer for the two chickens. A man offered to pay a gold coin for the chickens. Keloğlan didn’t accept this. He said that he absolutely wanted two gold coins for the chickens. The man saw that Keloğlan would not sell the chickens for a gold coin:
“Keloğlan look, I have a treasure map. I am alone, and I’ve already got old. That’s why I couldn’t look for the treasure. I used to work at Zenginoğlu’s mansion. Zenginoğlu gave me this map. Let me have the two chickens, have the map, look for and find the treasure, be happy all your life” he said. Keloğlan believed the man, and agreed. Keloğlan returned home in the late afternoon. His mother shouted:
“Oh my stupid son! Can two chickens be bartered for this piece of paper? You were meant to buy gas and salt after selling the chickens. You have been cheated. Sit in the dark, eat the meals without any salt and make up your mind”. Keloğlan didn’t care, he was only thinking about the treasure. He passed the night in difficulty and got up very early. Keloğlan said:
“Mother, I am going to look for the treasure. I prepared food for winter. Let there be no gas; you will go to bed early in the evenings. Let there be salt; you will get it from the neighbour. If I find the treasure, I will make you live like a sultan ”. He kissed his mother’s hand. Seeing that Keloğlan was determined, his mother desperately changed her mind. She saw Keloğlan off saying “Goodbye, Keloğlan. I hope you find the treasure”
Keloğlan crossed mountains and hills, looking for days until finally he found the well on the map. The treasure was meant to be in this well. The stone he threw into the well made a sound like BANG. Keloğlan understood that there was no water in the well. However, three people who had gene down the well in his village and weren’t able to come out last year come to his mind. “I have a rope, which I brought with me from the village. He started worrying - What if I tie the rope to the edge of the well and go down; but then die like them because of the poisonous smoke in the well? That will be a bad state - firstly I need a helper who is manly, trustworthy and who is able to remove the danger in the well. Nasreddin Hodja came to mind while thinking where it might be possible to find somebody like this, and he said “Ok”, the Hodja will find a way to resolve this matter.”
After a long journey he eventually arrived in Akşehir. There he asked to be shown Nasreddin Hodja’s house. He knocked on the door and Nasreddin Hodja opened it. He said “You are most welcome, my son”, “I am Nasreddin Hodja. Would you like something?”
“My hodja, I am called Keloğlan in my village. I would likr your help for an important matter. I would be very happy if you would be so kind as to listen to me.” Hodja welcomed Keloğlan into his house. Keloğlan told him how he had got the treasure map; he told him that he said goodbye to his mother and left the village, had found the well on the map, he told himwhy he hadn’t been able to go down the well. He concluded his remarks by saying - if we find the treasure, we will share it fifty – fifty, my Hodja. What do you say?
Nasreddin Hodja replied:
“Since there is not enough current, this poisonous air gathers in the wells which haven’t been used for a long time and into which poisonous air leaks from the layers of earth around them. If someone goes down into these wells, they will poison and kill the person. As you have told me, the depth of the well had been nearly 9 or 10 metres. It is too tiring and troublesome to dig and broaden the hole around the well, we can’t accomplish that. If we try to find a helper, it will spread from ear to ear, and the public will gather at the well. We must find another way Keloğlan. Stay with us for a couple of days as my guest, and I will think and find a suitable way.”
Nasreddin Hodja made plans during the following two days, and drew up drafts. He brought the plans to the smith. He admonished him to give the equipments that he had; to make those he didn’t have according to the drawings. The equipment was ready in a week. He had bought a cart which two donkeys pulled. He put the equipments, and necessities like food and drink in the car. He said goodbye to his wife and mounted his donkey. Hodja with his donkey in the front, and Keloğlan in the cart at the back, set off. After a troublesome journey lasting for days, they reached the well in which the treasure was. Hodja scrutinized the well. He took down the big bellows, which they had got the smith to make, next to the well with Keloğlan. They dangled one of the tips of a pipe, which was nearly 10 centimetres wide, into the bottom of the well. They attached the other tip to the bellows. They started to pump the bellows. The still and poisonous air - which had accumulated for years - started to scatter, rise slowly and get out of the well from the effect of the fresh and pressurized air. The rate of poisonous air in the well, too. On the third day they come to the conclusion that the well had been cleaned. Just to make sure, Nasreddin Hodja put a cat, which he had brought in the cart, into a sack. After tying up the sack with a rope, he lowered it into the bottom of the well. He saw that the cat was alive and kicking after pulling it back two hours later.
Tying the rope around his waist, Keloğlan had gone down the well. He took out the stone mentioned on the map. After digging the earth under the stone, he found the chest. He tied up the chest with the other rope near him and called out to Hodja to pull him. When Keloğlan had come out of the well, they pulled up the chest with Hodja. When they broke its lock and opened the chest, to their surprise they saw it was fll of bright and shiny gold! They felt very happy. They shared the gold immediately. The next day, Nasreddin Hodja set off to Akşehir on his donkey; and Keloğlan set off to his village in the cart.
Keloğlan got a legendary mansion built in his village. He hired maids and menservants. He bought fields, vineyards, gardens. He started to live like a sultan with his mother. The Sultan heard about Keloğlan’s extraordinary wealth. When he was out hunting one day, he stopped by Keloğlan’s mansion. Keloğlan showed respect for the Sultan, and treated him in the best way. The Sultan, who was very pleased with this close interest, invited Keloğlan to his palace for the festival, which was going to be celebrated the following month.
Keloğlan went to the palace by coach and with manservants on the festival day. He met the Sultan’s extremely beautiful daughter, Violet, and fell in love. Violet loved Keloğlan at first sight and didn’t want him to leave. After the festival entertainments had finished, Keloğlan returned to his mansion. He told his mother that he had fallen in love with Sultan Violet at first sight and wouldn’t be able to live without her. They thought it over careflly and they decided to ask the Sultan’s consent to marry Violet. Later he went with his mother to ask the Sultan if he could marry his daughter. The Sultan accepted Violet’s marrying Keloğlan. Keloğlan returned to his mansion and started the wedding preparations. On the way he had sent messengers to Nasreddin Hodja to invite him to his wedding.
After Nasreddin Hodja had returned to Akşehir with his share, he clothed the poor and the orphans, and spent most of his money on good deeds. And at the same time he heard from his friends’ conversation and from the travellers passing by that Keloğlan had got a mansion built in his village, had hired menservants, had bought fields and started to live like a sultan, and he felt happy about the things he heard. When he heard about Keloğlan’s wedding invitation and that he was going to marry Sultan Violet, he regained a lot of his good humour. He started the preparations to go to the wedding. He bought carpets, furs, and silk cloths. He bought jewellery like earrings and a necklace for Violet. He also bought two coaches, which four horses would puul, and he also hired two menservants. He wore his most valuable clothes and his showiest fur. He set out with his wife a couple of days before the wedding. The Hodja arrived at the palace with his entourage, very ostentatiously. Keloğlan welcomed the Hodja at the door. He kissed his hand. They embraced and hugged each other. The Hodja told a lot of stories about events that he had lived, including witty remarks, until the wedding day. He made the guests have a funny time. Keloğlan and Sultan Violet married among the entertainments with musical instruments and much conversation. There were no words to describe their happiness. They lived happily for many years.
“ A benim kel oğlum, kabak oğlum.
“ Ana ben defineyi aramaya gidiyorum.
Az gitmiş uz gitmiş, sonunda, Akşehir’ e varmış. Sormuş, Nasreddin Hoca’ nın evini göstermişler. Kapıyı çalmış. Nasreddin Hoca kapıyı açmış. “ Buyurun evladım “ demiş,
“ Ben Nasreddin Hoca’ yım. Bir şey mi arzu etmiştiniz? “
“ Hocam, bizim köyde bana Keloğlan derler. Sizin önemli bir meselenin çözümüne yardımınızı rica edecektim. Beni dinlemek zahmetine katlanırsanız çok sevinirim. “
Hoca, Keloğlan’ ı evine buyur etmiş. Keloğlan define haritasına nasıl sahip olduğunu, anasına veda edip köyden ayrıldığını, haritadaki kuyuyu bulduğunu, kuyuya neden inemediğini anlatmış. “ Eğer defineyi bulursak yarı yarıya paylaşırız, Hocam. Ne dersiniz? ” diyerek sözü bağlamış.
Nasreddin Hoca:
“ Uzun süredir kullanılmayan veya etrafındaki toprak tabakasından içine zehirli hava sızan kuyularda, yeterli hava akımı olmadığı için, bu zehirli hava birikir. Eğer böyle kuyulara inilirse insanı zehirler, öldürür. Söylediğine göre kuyunun derinliği dokuz on metre varmış.
Padişah, Menekşe’yi Keloğlan’ a vermiş.

THE GRASS EATING TIGER
The young tiger was walking up and down with nervous and fast steps in his cage, behind the railings. Somehow somebody was squeezing his heart with a barbed wire rope today. The sun had risen and set a lot of times since he had been locked up in this cage. He was about one month old. The hunters had caught him when had gone for a walk in the forest one day and they had sold him to this zoo. He was as tall as a fairly large cat. He grew up and got srong as time passed. His cage wasn’t tiny but he didn’t want to live here. He would like to be free and to reach the forest, whose name he started to forget and where he longed for, and he would like to direct his life. People were crowding into there, were standing in front of the cage and were watching him for a lot of minutes with full of admiration.
When the visitors lessened that night – fall, the keeper cleaned and washed the cage. He left a half sheep as dinner into the cage. He locked the door and went away. While his keeper was locking the door and going away, there was a flash of lightning in the young tiger’s mind. The lock’s fitting into its hole and the key’s voice while locking was unusual. If his quite sensitive ears weren’t misleading him, the door hadn’t been locked properly. After eating the meat left into the cage, he started his turns again. The visitors started to increase again. The people had eaten their dinner and they were going to parks and gardens to enjoy and relax. The trouble in the young tiger’s heart had gone away and away and it had trapped into the key’s hole. At midnight, if he also was lucky, he would try to run away from the cage and would try running towards his freedom.
It had completely got dark; it had been a long time after the midnight had passed. There was nobody around. The young tiger pulled hard quickly the door with his strong paws. The door, which hadn’t bee locked properly, opened easily. He went out of the cage quickly. He took the road on the right. This road was ending in the wood further. Walking up and down in the cage wasn’t similar to running outside. He had got quite tired. After he stopped to have a rest, he jumped over the zoo’s wall. He disappeared in the darkness by running towards the forest.
The young tiger passed mountains, hills and he drank cold water. After three days and three nights, while the sun was rising in the morning, he arrived at the big forest, where he was caught and taken when he was too young. He was free now, he was bubbling over with joy. He realized that he was hungry while he was walking joyfully. He hadn’t eaten anything since the day he had run away. He had only drunk water. His keeper used to bring him meat day and night. Before the hunters had caught him, his mother used to feed him. However, life was too different in this immense forest. There was neither his mother nor his keeper now. This was something that he couldn’t think before he ran away from the cage: How would he feed himself?
He saw a deer in the grassy place further while he was thinking like this and walking. The deer sometimes looked around him and then started eating grass again. The deer started running immediately. Two tigers jumped from the bush nearby at the same time. The deer had been covered from four sides when two more tigers stood before him soon. It was obvious that the tigers had laid a trap to catch the deer. The best defense was attack. The brave deer rushed forward with a last effort. He butted terribly the nearest tiger with his sharp horns. The tiger tumbled down within blood. He turned to right a little. He wanted to but the second tiger in front of him too. However, he couldn’t hit. The tigers coming after him had reached. It was impossible to fight with three tigers although the deer was strong. The tigers tumbled the deer down by hitting with their strong paws, they killed and ate him. Then they went away.
The young tiger was petrified at his place. He was looking with unbelievable eyes. What he saw was brutality but the rules of the forest were like this. The weak became food for the stronger. “Namely” he said, “the tigers feed themselves like this. Because I am a tiger too, I should hunt and eat the living things. I can’t kill the other animals to feed myself. No one made me get used to kill. I don’t know killing and I don’t believe in the necessity of killing. The deer used to feed himself by eating grass. It was strong enough. The animals eating grass had been strong. I have no other choice; I will either stay hungry or eat grass. Let the others say “does a tiger eat grass” let them say “is it possible to be a grass eating tiger” “.
One month passed. The grass eating tiger couldn’t find the peace he looked for in the forest. The tigers accepted him but the life in the forest was completely inappropriate for the grass eating tiger. Why were they suddenly getting attacker when they saw a deer, a roe or a rabbit? They had been programmed to kill; they had to kill to live. At this sight there was a tiger living by eating grass, this also had to be thought. While the grass eating tiger was wandering in the forest one day, he met a rabbit. He was surprised with the rabbit’s not running away when he saw the tiger. Amazing! The rabbit was coming towards him. He wanted to step aside but he couldn’t. His feet had become stiff. The rabbit hit the grass eating tiger and fell onto his back. Then he stood up from where he fell and touched the tiger’s face, caressed his cheeks. He asked: “Are you the grass eating tiger. The grass eating tiger couldn’t say a word. He was shocked.
After the rabbit said “You are surely the grass eating tiger. Your mouth doesn’t smell of bload like the other tigers. Look, grass eater, I have heard your reputation. You can’t get used to the forest, you should return to the zoo. As I heard, the tigers had killed some animals in front of your eyes and they had wanted to make you get used to killing. If you can’t get used to killing, the tigers will kill you. Listen to me and go away from here” he wanted to go away but he fell off a hole, which was a little further. The grass eating tiger took the rabbit out of the hole and when he scrutinized his face, he saw that his eye sockets were empty. This rabbit didn’t have eyes. He considered “a blind rabbit”. He took him on his back, took and left him to his hole.
The grass eating tiger couldn’t help crying when he found the blind rabbit dead in his hole the following day. The tigers, which haven’t touched the blind rabbit so far, had envied him when they saw him going on the grass eating tiger’s back and had killed him. The grass eating tiger’s heart was full of hatred. That was too much now. What had they wanted from the poor rabbit? The grass eating tiger plunging into the tigers by running at the last speed, staked more than thirty tigers. “It’s easy to kill a blind rabbit, come and kill me if it’s easy”. What the tigers wanted was already this. They would infuriate the grass eating tiger and make him attack them and then they would pull him to pieces. There was always many a slip twixt the cup and the lip. It suddenly got dark and started to rain heavily. There were flashes of lightning and thunderbolts were falling. The tigers dispersed but the grass eating tiger didn’t run away. He waited until he got soaked. After half an hour the rain stopped. The sun shone, and the land brightened up. The grass eating tiger wandered there until midnight. When he saw that there were no passersby, he got bored and went away. The matter of forest was over. He was determined to return to the zoo now.
After a few days, his keeper found him waiting in front of the cage. The grass eating tiger would enter the cage a few minutes later and would reply the keeper from inside “here is my home, I’m a cage tiger. I can’t go to the forest even if you wanted. There hadn’t been a place for me” while he was locking him in and said “the lock has just been changed, you can’t try to run away again, because it’s impossible.” The young tiger’s heart got full of pleasure when a female tiger was brought to his cage two months later. They immediately became partners and close friends. The day and days passed, time passed and they had two babies. He became cheerful, happy and his heart was full of peace and the young tiger was walking up and down quietly and slowly behind the iron railings.
Kaplanların beklediği buydu zaten. Ot yiyen kaplanı çileden çıkarıp üstlerine saldırtacaklar sonra parça parça edeceklerdi. Evdeki hesap her zaman çarşıya uymazdı.

THE FROGLET
A froglet living in a pond, which was in a heavily forested area, was complaining about not having any friends. This froglet spent most of his time swimming in the pond, sometimes he got out of the water and strolled on the grass by jumping. Every day was completely the same as the former day. Every day the same thing, the same things. The endless monotony made him tired. One day the froglet got angry with himself.
“As if you were curious to spend all your life in this pond! Is the world as small as you thought? Is the world as tiny as it seems? Why don’t you save yourself, leave and go from here? If you say the world is this pond where you live, know that you are not a frog of this world; you are a frog of completely different worlds. Never forget this: You will reach the life you desire only when you go away from this pond.”
The froglet made up his mind at that moment. He would leave here and set out, would look for friends for himself in the places he would go. The froglet moved forward in the forest for days. Finally the dense trees of the forest became sparse, and he reached a little flat place. He immediately saw a bright thing on the ground. What on earth was that? He was surprised when he looked at the bright thing. There was a frog in that and that frog was looking at him, too. He returned and hid behind a stone. After he got over his first bewilderment, he realized that this bright thing was so slim that there couldn’t be any frog or anything like that in it. Then the situation was clearly obvious: The bright thing must have been a mirror and he had seen himself in it. He took the mirror and leant it on the edge of a tree nearby. He started to do all sorts of amusing things standing in front of the mirror. Sometimes he stood on his two feet, sometimes he jumped, and sometimes he took a deep breath and watched his image in the mirror while blowing out his chest and cheeks. What he liked best of all these motions was seeing himself looking huge in the mirror. He started to take deeper breaths and to seem huger. Finally, such a time came that the froglet become as round as a ball and he realized that he was off the ground and rising.
The froglet acted as if nothing had happened. He breathed out a little when he had risen nearly ten metres of the ground. It was unnecessary to rise any more. He was not a bird to flap his wings, to rise into the sky, to fly as high as he possibly could. He was just a little froglet. It was said that it was not possible that frogs could fly; it was like a dream but real. He was already flying. He looked around haphazardly. He looked in all directions. He had come from the forest, so he would go back that way. He stretched his front right left in the direction he wanted to go in an automatic motion. Amazing!... He had suddenly turned to face the way he wanted to go. Although he had turned, he was still floating motionless. He suddenly remembered that he used his back legs to move forward in water. He pulled his back legs slowly to his chest, pushed them backwards, pulled, and pushed. What he had thought was completely right. He was able to move forward. He would be able to move forward as much as he wanted to, would be able to go down wherever he wanted.
After flying a while the froglet noticed an old frog lying at full length near a river. He thought “the old frog must have an illness”.
“Because no frog lies in the open like this. If he lies, it means that he is inviting danger. Let’s go down and have a look what his problem is.”
This meadowland where the old frog had fallen and stayed was a picnic area. People used to spend their weekends here on sunny summer days and have picnics. Someone who wasn’t in his right mind had drunk what was in a bottle he had brought with him, and had thrown and broken the bottle while going. So the old frog had injured his foot when he stepped on a piece of the broken bottle and had fainted because he couldn’t endure the pain any more. When the old frog regained consciousness, he told the things that had happened and wanted the froglet to help him.
After the froglet said:
“Sir, I have never faced a situation like this before. That piece of glass must be taken out of your foot. I can’t do this, but while I was coming I saw two children fishing further down the river. I will go and call them, they may help you”, and he went away jumping.
When the froglet came near the children, he said:
“Could you help, please? An old frog has been injured and is lying over there. Please come with me and help him, save him. It is a good thing to do kind deeds. Come on children, stand up please, and come with me”
The children succumbed to the froglet’s entreaties, took their fishing lines out of water, put them aside and followed the froglet. After a short while the piece of glass had been taken out of the old frog’s foot and the injured part had been covered with a clean cloth.
After the children went, the froglet acted as a crutch for the old frog and brought him to a quiet and secluded place. After the old frog had thanked the froglet for the things he did, he said:
“I wonder if they would listen to me if I called out to all living things to be good, as good deeds are very few and far between. For some reason or other everybody continues a never ending race by saying let’s do him/her harm, hit him/her first before another one does me harm. Let’s give up this meaningless evil race, let’s become like brothers, cooperate and run towards happiness. I am fed up with seeing evil, getting sad and crying all the time” and when he finished his words he started crying. The old frog’s crying caused the froglet to shake.
“Stop crying now old frog, wipe off your tears. We will behave like we are brothers from now on. So evil things are and everyone tries hard to become the first in this race. Therefore I’ve started a race of goodness against that from now on. I will travel all over the world soon and I will tell all the livings things about goodness and also make them participate in this race. The flag of goodness will wave on the flagpole forever.”
The froglet trusted himself a lot. If you asked why - because he had a big advantage. How quickly you have forgotten, he was able to fly you know! Travelling intercontinental was a piece of cake for him.
Her gün aynı şey, hep aynı şeyler.
Yerden on metre kadar yükselince ağzından biraz hava bıraktı. Daha fazla yükselmek gereksizdi. Her işte her şey seviye seviyeydi.
Kurbağacık kendine çok güveniyordu. Neden derseniz, çünkü güçlü bir kozu vardı. Ne çabuk unuttunuz, uçabiliyordu ya. Kıtalararası yolculuk onun için hiçten bile değildi.

KELOĞLAN AND THE SULTAN OF THE SEAS
Once upon a time, there was Keloğlan. His hair was not that much, but her mind was. He loves to compete ideas with other people and he makes it like a game. He is invited to all the weddind ceremonies that are in his village Alaca, and in neighbour villages Bulaca, Suluca and Kuluca, and he does not let anybody to be the first of the thought competitions. Is it possible to run ideas with Keloğlan? When he ask the question, the contestants are dumbed.
If the clouds descend to the earth, if the earth rises to sky, in which floor the people are ?
Who understands if the smoke of a burning fire is not seen?
What would it be like to walk if the the hands replaced with the feet ?
Keloğlan, his real name is Abraham, sets off in order to run his intelligence with the Sultan of the seas, who boasts of his intelligence. He run across two men on the road. Men were under a heated debate. After watching the debate for a time, he interrupted them;
"Wait brothers, do not argue. What you can not share in this huge world, at this mountain? "
When Keloğlan interrupted them, the men calmed down. One of the men asked to Keloğlan:
"Friend, where are you from, what is your name? "
Keloğlan:
"I am from the Alaca village, behind that mountain. everyone calls me Keloğlan. Tell me brothers, where do you come from, where do you go? What is your name, I want to know."
One of the men:
"I heard the name Keloğlan. My name is Hacivat, my brother's name is Karagoz."
"Wow, Hacivat and Karagöz! I heard your name. you make the paople laugh with your humourous talk." he said and embraced the two inseparable friends.
Then Karagoz asked:
"Keloğlan, you're far away from your village. Where are you going? "
Thereupon Keloğlan told everything and in the end, he told that he sat off in order to run his intelligence with the Sultan of the seas. When he finished his words, Hacivat stood in front of Keloğlan:
"Hey man, did you go crazy? I also know the sultan of the seas. he says that he will give a sack of gold, he will make him drowned in gold the man who beats me in intelligence competition but he have not give anyone a sack of gold. He drowns people in other way, not with gold! ıf you fall into hangman's clutches, then it is a pity for you.”
Karagöz was angry as Hacivat:
" Hey Sultan of balds .. Hacivat and I are at your command if you give up that bad idea. you are twenty or maybe less. you are so young. Do not go, please.”
Karagöz and Hacivat talked Keloğlan round to discourage him , but is it possible to deter him? he dad not accept deterring in any way. When the dream comes true, when the tale of a legend mixed up in the dream, Hacivat suddenly stretched lines of his face, frowned and began to speak:
"Look Keloğlan, nobody puts her life on a death game, that is likely to be zero chance of winning. you knew me andKaragöz. We do not know what is a lie, do not give up accuracy, we know your secret as if it was our own secret and tell nobody. considering that you endanger your life, did the sultan of the seas hurt one of your friend or relative? "
After Hacivat's speech, he began to tell the secret that worry him since childhood, in tears:
"My mother told. my father's name was Mehmet. He was a villager but he was very clever. When I was a young boy,the sultan of the seas, who heard my father's intelligence, had invited my father to compete ideas to his palace. he had gone and never turned back.. When the cruel sultan saw that my father is smarter than himself, he had my father drowned. I'll go in now, and take my father's revenge! and there is a situation like this. I paid attention, while people chat, they say the sultan, king, emperor, king, sultan, however, there are so many cruel people among them. Dungeons are fulled with unjustly tortured people. Is it fair? One of the sultan, gather up the army, attack a country full of good people living in their own state, cause hundreds of thousands of people to die. What happens then? He added new territorries to his country , expanded his country. This kind of men are known as a great sultan, a great king. It is a great shame if the red-haired, red-bearded pirate in the sea known as the Sultan of Sultans will be called as a great sultan.
Hacivat : "You're right, Keloğlan. this situation also draw my attention. These manuscripts. some of them are from centuries ago. There are always battles in the history books. History, should not mean war. Remove war from the history books, Hacivat Karagöz will remain backward. Will not, Karagöz? "
Karagöz: "What do you say, Hacivat? We do not like a war. Why do we let people write us in history books. "
The conversation went down Between them like water. they talked so many issues. Especially when talking about his father, Keloğlan's explosion of a volcano after many years was confirming an ongoing wrong for centuries? to provide integrity on thoughts, will cause to establish association among ideas, Keloğlan will take Karagoz and Hacivat with him, a farm owner would sell them three horses, they would depart immediately, several days would pass, weeks would pass, entry to the seas sultan's land would be made, by the sea, in steep cliffs above the tyrant's palace and they would go next to the Sultan of the seas.
Keloğlan was in the presence of the sultan sea now, Karagöz and Hacivat were among the audience, in the saloon. A little later, David sound of Sultan of the sea begun echoing in the hall:
"You are the one who came to compete your intelligence with me, are not you? Your name is Keloğlan It is said that the one who does not have hair, does not have intelligence, too. If you were intelligence, you would not challenge me."
Keloğlan gave that answer to this question: "My Sultan, I have no hair, but I have mind.
Since Sultans of the seas, did not expect an answer like that, he looked his right and left. In the room, every head was bowed. Keloğlan, was standing in front of him like a tree. He was brave. It seemed as though he would be able to respond to every question. Sultan of the sea frowned and threw a hard stare toward Keloğlan but Keloğlan did not care.
Sultan of the sea shouted while he brushed up: "contemptible man, kneel in front of me immediately.”
"My Sultan, is it possible? This is a competition. Do not interfere in my business. Conditions are equal. Never mind your and now, let me ask a question and advise me. It is not in that hand, not in the other hand. What is the name of the thing which is not in my hands?"Hey shameless man! What kind of question is this? Executioners! Took him from there and cut his head."
Two executioners came and then grab him and took him to the dungeon at the ground floors of the palace.
At midnight, Hacivat and Karagöz went to prison and Hacivat met his distant relative of the guardian. Hacivat told the man let Keloğlan go, and nobody would be said by anyone. And upon the request of Hacivat and his ten gold, the guardian took Karagöz, Hacivat and Keloğlan from a secret passage out of the palace.
The guardian: "Look, I am in this dungeon for twenty years. I killed hundreds of people who rebelled my Sultan, who opposed him, who was enemy, who did not bow. So far, even one prisoner did not survive. I'm leaving for Hacivat's sake. After he told that “If you come into the dungeon again, woe! Not one Hacivat, thousands of Hacivat cannot save you” he had hit such a hard a slap in the neck that he make him dust and soil.
After the guardian went, Karagöz and Hacivat embraced Keloğlan and took him and escaped. Keloğan deluged with death for days. When he sobered up, he asked: "What happened? Where am I?"
Hacivat on it: "In the mountain, slope we are, Keloğlan. You slept for full six days not knowing himself. You sweated. The guardian let you go."
The man: "Oh, my neck, what a guardian is he? He slapped my neck so hard that it is impossible to describe. He struck to kill."
Hacivat: "Surely he shot to kill. If the Sultan of the sea hears that he left you, he will get him hanged on the highest pole. Now, be wise man, you took your father's revenge. Accept this like that. Leave the country of Sultan of the seas. Yes go to your village to your house and live your life.
They brought up Keloğlan, who recovered later, near his village Alaca. Hacivat and Karagöz, who took promise from Keloğlan that he will not challenge the Sultans of the seas and returned to Bursa.

Keloğlan’ın araya girmesiyle adamlar sakinleşmiş. Adamlardan biri, Keloğlan’a sormuş:
“ Arkadaş, nerelisin, adın ne? “
Keloğlan:
“ Şu dağın ardında kalan Alaca köyündenim. Herkes, bana Keloğlan der. Söyleyin bakalım ağalar, nereden gelir, nereye gidersiniz? Adınız nedir, bir öğrenelim. “
Adamlardan biri:
“ Keloğlan adını duymuşluğum vardı. Benim adım Hacivat, kardeşliğimin adı Karagöz’dür. “
“ Vay, Hacivat ve Karagöz!.. Ben de sizin adınızı duymuştum. Nükteli konuşmalarınızla etrafınızdakileri güldürürmüşsünüz “ diyen Keloğlan, iki ayrılmaz dostla kucaklaşmış.
Daha sonra Karagöz sormuş:
“ Keloğlan, sen köyünden çok uzaktasın. Nereye böyle? “
“ Be Keloğlan, sende hiç akıl yok mudur? Denizler padişahını ben de bilirim. Akıl-fikir yarışında beni yeneni altına boğarım der ama kimseye beni yendin, al bir çuval altını demedi, kimseyi altına boğmadı. O’nun boğdurması başka türlü. Cellâtlarının eline düşenin vay haline. “
Karagöz’ün de kızgınlıkta Hacivat’tan aşağı kalır yanı yokmuş:
“ Bre kellerin padişahı.. Biz Hacivat’la ikimiz senin emrindeyiz. Yeter ki, o kötü fikrinden vazgeç. Bak yirminde varsın, yoksun. Hayatının baharındasın. Gel gitme. “
Neredeyim ben? "
Bunun üzerine Hacivat: " Dağda, bayırdayız, Keloğlan. Tam altı gündür kendini bilmeden yattın. Terledin, durdun. Zindancıbaşı gitmene izin verdi. "
Keloğlan: " Of, ensem!
